Maintenance Fitter – Granard, Co. Longford

Pat the Baker are currently recruiting a full-time Maintenance Fitter located in our production facility in Granard, Co. Longford.

Reporting to: Maintenance Manager

Primary Purpose of the Role: Work as part of the engineering team responsible for all aspects of machine and equipment maintenance ensuring maximum utilisation and ultimate safety.


Shift pattern 12 hour shifts, days and nights


Main Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance and Electrical

  • Electrical and Mechanical trouble-shooting
  • Electro-mechanical repairs to high-speed, PLC-controlled plant, processing and packaging equipment, also pneumatic and hydraulic control systems and conveying systems
  • Support the installation and commissioning of all new equipment.
  • Confirm that all safety features on equipment are maintained and operational.
  • Ensure that PM’s are carried out and documented.
  • To be observant & work off your own initiative when a fault is detected & to take action based on your best judgment on whether to effect immediate repair or not
  • Responsible for the completion of your planned work, parts booked out of stores and control of breakdowns.



  • Ensure all documentation relating to equipment is accurate and up to date and readily available. All stocks for equipment are accurate and up to date.
  • Update the maintenance management system, records of all changes, stores transactions made and work carried out
  • Complete detailed written incident reports


Health, Safety and Hygiene

  • To keep clean any areas in which you are working and comply with the requirements of the quality management system including the production facility, the workshop and stores
  • Adhere to health and safety standards including regulatory requirements when conducting duties.
  • Wear the full Company issued uniform. Must be clean, neat and tidy.
  • Facemasks must be worn at all times.



  • At all times carry out all operational aspects of job with regard to documented company policies, procedures and safety information.
  • Display a positive and constructive attitude in partnership of problem solving with other areas of the business
  • Avoid loss or damage to goods or property
  • Participate in all company training and awareness programmes

Qualifications and Experience

  • Hold a relevant trade qualification
  • 2 years post qualification experience
  • Experience within manufacturing in the food industry is advantageous
  • Experience with conveyors, packaging machines, mechanical repairs, air automation and welding.
